Self-Guided Motorcycle Tour "Madeira - Experience the island on your own"

The island of Madeira is located about 500 km from the African mainland and 1,000 km from the European mainland. Its privileged geographical position is the reason for its amazingly mild climate, with average temperatures of 16 degrees in winter and 22 degrees in summer, offering perfect conditions for motorcycling all year round. The island of volcanic origin is known for its scenic beauty and water channels levadas. The extensive cultural heritage is reflected in churches and the typical quintas, among others. Embark on a journey of discovery on 2 wheels to the hidden charms of this floating garden.

Day 1: Flight to Funchal. After your arrival transfer to the hotel in the capital Funchal. In the evening, enjoy the truly excellent food at your hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast, it's off to pick up your motorcycles. Then you can finally set off on your first day tour of the island. Start e.g. in the direction of Santa Cruz and further in the direction of Machico and Santana. Here on the north coast of the island you will find the old peasant houses of the Madeirans, the Colmo houses. A stop for lunch is recommended at the Quinta do Furão, nestled among the vineyards and lush gardens. The establishment is known not only for its good food, but also for its breathtaking views of the coast.

Day 3: Today you will start the second day tour. Explore the northwest of the island today, for example. Let yourself be enchanted and discover the fascinating landscapes along the steep north coast! A mysterious wilderness awaits you in the native laurel forests - the endless primeval forests of Madeira. Immerse yourself in the village atmosphere of the original settlements along this breathtaking coast! After a motorcycle tour in Madeira, there is nothing better than a typical Madeiran meal, such as the "Espetada" on a laurel skewer with the famous "Bolo do Caco" bread with garlic butter.

Day 4: Today we will again take the most beautiful routes across the island, e.g. along the west coast to the far northwest to Porto Moniz. The small, former whaling town is known for its freely accessible natural pools (Piscinas Naturais do Cachalote). Surrounded by large and small lava rocks embedded in the sea, they are filled with crystal clear water by the tide. Leaving Porto Moniz by road towards Paul da Serra, a high plateau 1,600 m above sea level, you can round off your island excursion with spectacular views all along the way.

Day 5: A visit to Madeira definitely includes a hike, either along one of the many levadas, or quite spectacularly from peak to peak from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, the highest mountain on the island. Just the ride up to the mountain on a motorcycle is an experience in itself.

Day 6: A visit to the capital Funchal should of course not be missed. After a tour of the old town, you will take the cable car up to the pretty village of Monte, where you can visit the famous pilgrimage church of Nossa Senhora do Monte, burial place of the last Austrian Emperor Charles I. From here you can then take the famous basket sleds back down to Funchal. The "Carros de cesto" are among Madeira's first means of public transportation.

Day 7: The last day on the dream island is unfortunately already dawning. After a last day tour, the drop-off of the motorcycles will take place either today in the late afternoon or the next morning. Afterwards you will have time again to enjoy the amenities of your hotel and relax e.g. at the pool.

Day 8: Today the transfer back to the airport and the flight back to Germany.
